Sport and exercise are of great social importance in Tanzania and Germany Participating in sports or cheering for teams together as fans promotes peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among people from diverse backgrounds.
There is a growing awareness that sport promotes physical and mental health. Its potential for positive change has long been recognized and the Agenda 2030 also emphasizes the importance of sport as a catalyst of sustainable development. Numerous sports initiatives, for example, are committed to promoting the education and health of young people, boosting their self-confidence and teaching important life skills.
The aim of this seminar weekend is to provide background knowledge on the various socio-cultural and political dimensions of sport and physical activity in Tanzania, to network and to develop ideas for personal or joint involvement.
The event is aimed in particular at those who are active in sports initiatives and partnerships with Tanzania. However, anyone interested in the topic is also very welcome!
