How do urban, rural, small-town and peri-urban living environments in Tanzania differ – and how are they interconnected? What is the situation regarding digitalisation and technological innovation? How does climate change affect urban and rural areas differently? Are there differences in political participation and civic engagement?
Our seminar, ‘City, Countryside and Everything in Between in Tanzania – Dreams and Reality’, to be held on 24 October 2026 in Würzburg, will explore these and other questions. Together with speakers from Tanzania and Germany, we aim to challenge stereotypical perceptions and take a nuanced look at the complex interconnections between urban and rural areas.
