Following the strong interest in our NetTalk in December 2025 on the political situation in Tanzania after the General Elections, we would now like to continue the conversation and take a deeper look at recent developments in the country.
Since the violent aftermath of the elections, the political and social situation in Tanzania remains tense. A recently published commission report intended to investigate the events surrounding the elections has been widely criticized by civil society actors and observers as inadequate and lacking credibility. At the same time, many questions remain unanswered regarding accountability, democratic participation, freedom of expression, and the role of international actors and partnerships.
This NetTalk aims to provide an update on the current situation and to explore broader political, social, and international dimensions of the crisis.
We warmly invite everyone interested to join the discussion.
Our guests:
Dr. Thabit Jacob, Senior Expert in Political Economy and Development
Aneth Lawkatare-Thumm, Human Rights Specialists at SAP, PHD Candidate at FAU Research Center for Human Rights Erlangen-Nürnberg
The NetTalk will be in English.
