Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene stehen an einem entscheidenden Punkt ihres Lebens, an dem sie wichtige Weichen für ihre Zukunft stellen – Die Lebensentscheidungen werden dabei maßgeblich von den sozialen, wirtschaftlichen und kulturellen Bedingungen beeinflusst. Wunsch und Wirklichkeit liegen dabei nicht selten weit auseinander. Soziale Ungleichheiten, eingeschränkter Zugang zu Bildung und Arbeitsmarkt und fehlende Repräsentationen in der Politik lassen viele Lebensträume zerplatzen. Wir fragen uns:
- Wie positioniert sich die junge Generation in Tansania?
- Welche Rolle spielen Medien, politisches Engagement, Proteste und globale Herausforderungen wie Klimawandel und Kolonialismus-Aufarbeitung?

Tanzania's Gen Z: Perspectives between new beginnings and everyday life - hybrid seminar on 14 March 2026 online / Cologne / Leipzig
Teenagers and young adults are at a crucial point in their lives where they are setting the course for their future – and their life choices are significantly influenced by social, economic and cultural conditions. It is not uncommon for their desires and reality to be worlds apart. Social inequalities, limited access to education and the labour market, and a lack of representation in politics shatter many dreams for the future. We ask ourselves:
- How does the young generation in Tanzania position itself?
- What role do the media, political engagement, protests and global challenges such as climate change and coming to terms with colonialism play?
